School of Management established the field of tourism management, one of the earliest majors offered by Shanghai Sanda University, in 1992 and started to enroll undergraduate students in 2002. At present, the total number of students enrolled in the major is about 500.
Faculty members and administrators of Tourism Management always adheres to the orientation of cultivating high-caliber and talented students following the teaching/learning concept of integration of academic institution with industrial enterprise, knowledge with practice, and diligent learning with innovation. They are making their best efforts to cultivate application-oriented and globalized talented personnel of tourism management, according to the development trend of tourism industry and job requirements, and through the method of strengthening basic theoretical education, establishing the platform for the cooperation of academic institution with enterprise, and, at the same time, expanding international cooperation channels.
At present, the department has a good number of on-campus and off-campus practice bases. On-campus training bases include Virtual Training Room, Tourism Campus Experience Center and Hotel Management Training Center, and off-campus bases include locations with Ctrip International Travel Agency, Fuxing Tourism Culture Group, Zhongxin Tourism Group, Shanghai Disney Resort, Marriott Hotel Group, Shanghai International Conference Center, and China Airlines Jiaxin Business Travel Management Co Ltd. The department also has an overseas internship base with Disney Resort in the United States. At the same time, we offer international cooperation opportunities to students through exchange and overseas postgraduate study programs with more than ten universities and colleges in the United States, Canada, Bulgaria, Finland and other countries and regions including Macao and Taiwan.
In the course of development over the past 20 years and more, the department has successfully trained a large number of high-caliber qualified graduates for the tourism industry, and also received wide acclaim and appreciation from employers.
