The Department offers the major of Finance, one of the earliest academic fields offered by the institution, and started to enroll students of junior-college education in 1993 and students of 4-year undergraduate education in 2003.  At present, the university has 847 students and a total of 1,874 graduates.  The major of Finance of this Department is one of the first key academic fields offered by the university, and has won a good number of honorary titles such as the Fourth Undergraduate Education Highland Project of Shanghai Education Commission,  the First Batch of Shanghai Municipal Comprehensive Reform Pilot Major, the Third Batch of Shanghai Municipal Applied Undergraduate Pilot Major,  and the Shanghai Municipal All-English Instruction Planning Major.    It was selected by Shanghai Municipal Government to receive the title of First-class Undergraduate Major in Shanghai in 2019, and selected by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission to be listed in the Shanghai Master Degree Program Construction Plan in 2017.  The Department has also won in terms of this major numerous awards including the Second Prize of Shanghai Teaching Achievement in 2018, and the Second Prize of Undergraduate Group in the Application-oriented Major Construction Competition of Private Universities and Colleges in the Yangtze River Delta Region.  In addition, the Major of Finance of Sanda University has won the title of “Five Star Professional Major” in National Ranking of Finance Major in Private Institutions of higher education in 2018 and 2019 by the Alumni Association, and the rating of No. 1 in the Shanghai and greater Shanghai region for being a First-class major in Private Universities and Colleges in China.

 The Department, keeping up with the pace of the times and the development of new financial concepts and trends, is devoted to cultivating high caliber, multidisciplinary, application-oriented, and talented financial-service and financial-business personnel, who enjoy physical and mental health, have the property of integrity, loyalty and dedication, possess financial professional ability and data literacy, the ability of financial analysis and planning, the capabilities of financial evaluation and implementation and other wealth management, the competency of handling financial professional job positions such as financial consultant, customer manager, certified financial planner, certified analyst and other related positions in small and medium-sized financial institutions, and good financial professional virtue, professional ethics and financial data literacy with international vision.

  The main courses of this major include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Finance, Statistics, Econometrics, Fiscal Science, Financial Data Analysis, Accounting, International Finance (English), International Settlement (English), Financial Risk Management (English), Insurance (English), Financial Marketing, Corporate Finance, Fixed Income Securities, Securities Investment; CFA Equity Investment, Commercial Bank Operation and Business, CFA Alternative Investment and Real Estate, CFA Business Ethics, CFA Financial Statement Analysis, CFA Business Mathematical Statistics Analysis Foundation, CFA Derivative Investment and Insurance, Financial Computing and Modeling (CFA), CFA Fixed Income and Financial Institutions, and etc.




  The Department has a high caliber teaching team composed of 14 full-time teaching professionals including 3 full professors, 4 associate professors, and 7 holding doctoral degrees.  100% of full-time faculty members hold professional qualification certification; 85.6% of the faculty team have overseas study, visit and exchange experience; and 57% of the full-time faculty have the bilingual qualification.

  The Department has set up distinctive characteristics of professional orientation for the Major of Finance, including Regional Characteristics, Globalization Characteristics, and University-Enterprise Cooperation Characteristics.


    ? Regional Characteristics refers to the effort made by the Department in its dedication to cultivating high caliber, application-oriented, and talented financial professionals for the small and medium-sized financial institutions to serve the Yangtze River Delta Region Economic Integration Development Strategy.  That means that the talented personnel cultivated through the academic programs of this major will take the priority to mainly serve the economic development of Shanghai City and its greater regions (80.43%).  It also means that the Department’s student cultivation orientations are in consistent conformity with the regional employment layout.


    ? Globalization Characteristics refers to the fact that 85.6% of the faculty team have overseas study, visit and exchange experience, and 57% of the full-time faculty have the bilingual qualification to teach 5 Shanghai Demonstrative Courses Taught All in English at Sanda.


    ? University-Enterprise Cooperation Characteristics refers to the cultivation mode adopted by the Department to set up training class tailored to suit the requirements of the order, such as the current orders of Zhejiang Tailong Commercial Bank Class, Bohai Securities Class, CFA Direction Class, and etc.  And, at the same time, the Department has enhanced the course modules for Financial Technology and Wealth Management directions to satisfy the social needs of the rapid development of the digital economy and new data financial concepts and trends.


On Campus Experimental Training Conditions


  The Department has 4 on-campus professional practical training sites including Data Finance Comprehensive Training Center and Internet Finance Comprehensive Training Center, and etc., Money Museum, “Golden Bee” Campus, E-Bank, any other characteristic practical teaching platforms.  In the E-Bank, the faculty members will invite the students to act as bank president and conduct one-to-one interactive teaching and learning and bank job rotation training so that the students are able to experience with advanced equipment and in-depth practical training without leaving the campus.


  The Department, with the help of various teaching quality engineering projects and government support fund projects in Shanghai, has procured a number of well-known teaching software in the industry, such as Financial Blockchain, Qianlong University Financial Teaching System, SPSS, Financial Risk Management, International Settlement (bilingual), Wealth Management, and other teaching software, develop the previous teaching platform, utilizing the BPO-based Comprehensive Training Platform for Business Majors,  to form a complete training platform for professional group practice, and keep up with the pace of the times and the development of new financial formats,  continuously optimize and upgrade the training programs and practice course system, pertinently add data literacy in knowledge learning and ability training, and set

practical teaching content of data literacy at different levels for different levels of education delivered by the university.
