In 2017, the College English Department established mutual assistance center for students’ English learning., The center set up an “additional class for CET 4” in the form of “second class”, and then a class for CET 6A in 2018 in response to the students’ requirements. In the past two years, students in the “additional class for CET 4” maintained a relatively stable pass rate in the exam.
There are two CET 4 classes and two CET 6 classes in each semester, with 8 to 10 activities mainly focusing on listening, reading, translation, writing and other topics in English learning. Teachers from College English Department will inform students of the class time and the way of registration. Some students also ask about the registration date at the beginning of each semester, so as not to miss it. The school’s education office approved the establishment of the 2017 education reform program to support the classes. The communist youth league committee of the school also awards social practice credits to students who attend all the classes and those who pass the exams.
In the spring semester of 2020, due to the impact of the epidemic, the teachers actively planned to transfer the face-to-face class mode to online tutoring. The outbreak did not affect the students’ enthusiasm for learning, the number of registration exceeded 1,000. Finally, due to the limited platform, there are more than 600 students in CET4 and more than 500 students in CET6 class.
