Dr. Masashi Haneda, Professor and Acting Vice President, University of Tokoy, Japan, and Dr. Houquan Zhang, Professor from Donghua University, China visited Sanda on December 27th, 2017. Prof. Jin Li, President of Sanda University, extended a warm welcome to Professor Masashi Haneda and introduced the history of development of our Institution, basic achievement of international cooperation and academic exchange as well as cultivation of talents. Dr. Masashi Haneda is in charge of international cooperation and academic exchange at the University of Tokyo. And both sides conducted friendly discussions on international cooperation and other subjects.
Later, ProfessorMasashi Haneda had a discussion with Dr. Xinghua Cheng, Dean of School of Foreign Languages, Dr. Xiaowei Shi, Professor and Chairman of Department of Japanese Language, Dr. Jianguo Tian, Professor and Vice Chairman of Department of Japanese Language, and some other faculty and students. Professor Masashi Haneda, at the meeting, first shared some of his views on international exchanges. He emphasized, during his interaction with the students, that language is just a tool. He also expressed his hope that language students should choose another major for research.Professor Masashi Haneda is an internationally well-known historian, advocating a new concept of world history, breaking the territorial boundaries of nation or country, emphasizing the world as integral one and people in the world sharing a common history.
Professor Masashi Haneda is currently a director and vice President of the University of Tokyo, Director of the International Institute of Advanced Studies, Director of Institute of Oriental Culture of Tokyo University, member of Japan Cabinet 21st Century Concept Roundtable Committee and others.He won a Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2017 for being an outstanding Humanities Scholar.
