On September 25th, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, International Education School prepared a welcome party of Mid-autumn Festival for international students on the 3rd floor of International Experience Center. Mr. Qi Huyang, Dean of International Education School, Mr. Fan Jianhua, Vice-Dean of International Education School, Mrs. Hua Hua, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation took part in this activity.
During the activity, Mrs. Huahua introduced the importance of Mid-autumn festival to Chinese people, which is considered the second-most important holiday tradition after Spring Festival. As it is the first festival for the new international students, she encouraged international students to learn more Chinese culture as well as the language.
Mr. Fan Jianhua introduced the origin and tradition of Mid-autumn Festival to international students. From the cartoon videos he played, international students showed a great interest and got to know Chinese legend behind the festival like Houyi Shooting the Sun, Chang’e flying to the Moon and Wugang cutting the trees. After that, Mr. Fan Jianhua read and explained two Chinese poems to students, which are On a quiet night by Libai and Shuidiaogetou by Sushi. Students were eager to read these poems after Mr. Fan and all enjoyed the artistic conception built by Chinese poems.
One of the international student, Sasaki, from Chinese intermediate level class read On a quiet night veryfluently. Mr Fan also introduced knowledge of moon-cakes. Students tried different kinds of moon-cakes, fruit and other snacks. They talked, laughed and shared their experiences together. This activity ended in joy and laughter in the end.
